On which criteria you set the prices of your products and services?

This is our favorite question and we will gladly answer it. The work of The Memory Land is not only going to take pictures and downloading them on the computer. We are a team of creative photographers, a professional company, with fixed and variable costs that we must take into account when setting our prices.

As we know that it can be difficult to understand this point sometimes, especially because nowadays anyone who has a camera thinks he’s a photographer, and unfortunately many colleagues give away their work, we detail the whole process in which we incur whenever we offer a photography service:

• Payment of monthly fees for our web server
• Payment of monthly fees for our online shopping system
• Communication time with the customer (creating a custom estimate, sending email, answering questions, sending references and ideas for pictures, phone calls, etc.)
• Time and transportation cost to and from the place of service (fuel, miles and travel allowances)
• The time it takes to download the photos to the computer
• Costs of storing images (in hard drives and the cloud)
• Time of professional photo editing (and, in fact, this is the most laborious part)
• Uploading time of the photos in our system
• Costs related to marketing: stationery, managing social networks and advertising strategies
• Office related costs: rent, electricity, internet and parking
• Payment of fees to the accountant
• Taxes

All this without taking into account the depreciation of our photographic equipment, valued at more than $5,000 every time we work on a event.

¿En base a cual criterio establecen los precios de sus productos y servicios?

Esta es nuestra pregunta favorita y con gusto la respondemos. El trabajo de The Memory Land no es solamente ir a tomar fotos y bajarlas en la computadora. Nosotros somos un equipo de fotógrafos y creativos, una empresa profesional, con gastos fijos y variables que debemos contemplar a la hora de establecer nuestros precios.

Como sabemos que a veces puede ser difícil entender este punto, sobretodo porque hoy en día todo el que tiene una cámara se cree fotógrafo, y lamentablemente muchos colegas regalan su trabajo, queremos detallar todo el proceso en el que incurrimos cada vez que ofrecemos un servicio fotográfico:

• Pago de tarifas mensuales de nuestro servidor web
• Pago de tarifas mensuales de nuestro sistema de compra online, ShootProof
• Tiempo de comunicación con el cliente (montar presupuesto personalizado, enviar correos, responder dudas, enviar referencias e ideas para las fotos, llamadas telefónicas, entre otros)
• Tiempo y costos de traslado ida y vuela al lugar del servicio (gasolina, millas y viáticos)
• Tiempo de descarga de fotos en la computadora
• Costos de almacenamiento de las imágenes (en discos duros y en la nube)
• Tiempo de edición profesional de las fotos (y de hecho, esta es la parte más laboriosa)
• Tiempo de carga de las fotos en nuestro sistema
• Costos relacionados con mercadeo: papelería, manejo de redes sociales y estrategias publicitarias
• Costos relacionados con oficina: alquiler, luz, servicio de internet y estacionamiento
• Pago de honorarios al contador
• Taxes

Todo esto sin contemplar la depreciación de nuestros equipos fotográficos, valorados en más de $5.000, cada vez que trabajamos en una pauta.
